preview

I posted this on the blue rose girls blog, but I thought pacyforest readers might want to see it too. This is a painting I recently finished for my "Bringing in the New Year" book. It is roughly 8x 30 inches, it is for a special 3 page spread/gatefold. The book will be published (if I get it all done in time, hopefully!) Jan or Feb of 2008.

Here's a detail of it:

And a closer detail of it. It took a long timeto do because I put pattern over pattern on everything:

Hi Grace, are you going to be writing a sequel to Year of the Dog? Just curious... :)

Hi Erin,

Yes, I'm writing The Year of the Rat (sneak peak at the cover here:
http://pacyforest.blogspot.com/2007/01/preview.html). It should be out the same time as this book, Jan/Feb 2008.

Hi Grace,
The picture is fabulous, and I can't wait to read "Bringing in the New Year." I sometimes forget how long it takes to bring these projects to fruition, but 2008 seems so far away!

I want you to know that I have been reading your blog for some time, and am quite a fan of your work. You and your work/writing have appeared in two of my last three blog entries. One entitled Dreaming of China, the other called Thank You, Grace Lin. I hope my students are as moved by your work as I am.

Regards,
Tricia

I just bought Fortune Cookie Fortunes to read to my second graders. Our school's theme for the year is Asia, so we are going to have a big Chinese New Year bash. I am going to read your book with my kiddos and write our own fortunes for each other.

I can't wait to get your book next year.

The Year of Dog is the first children book I ever read. And I am absolutely hooked. Now I am thriving to buy all the books you wrote and illustrated! Love your Work... ( ^ _ ^ )
